Inter Counties XC 2026
The Inter Counties Cross Country Championships took take place on Saturday 7th March at Wollaton Park in Nottingham. Five ECH athletes represented Greater Manchester (GM) on the day, which is a fabulous achievement and rewarded with competing against the best runners in the UK.
Good conditions made it fast running for athletes. It is an undulating course with one very steep hill on each lap.
Jacob Shearing went in the under 13 boys race, and ran brilliantly to finish 130th and was 7th GM counter with the team finishing a brilliant 5th overall. In the under 17 men’s race Marshall Fleet unfortunately had a fall at the start but still had a good run to come home in 190th and 6th GM counter with the team finishing 16th overall. In the Under 20 women’s race Harri-Ann Fleet ran strongly to finish 138th and 2nd GM counter.
Katie Kay took part in the senior women’s event coming back 4th counter for GM helping them to 19th team overall and finished 184th in the race.
Mike Holness was part of a very strong GM senior men’s team, having a strong run to end the season with a 134th place finish and 6th GM counter. The team finished a brilliant 6th place overall.
