Northern XC Champs 2026

The North of England Cross Country Championships took place on 24th Jan at Pontefract Racecourse. Conditions were good and allowed for fast running and there were some brilliant performances from juniors through to seniors.

Seren Gush and Annabelle Smith went in the under 13 girls race, both running well to finish 78th and 99th respectively. Ever present Erin McMahon had another strong run in the under 15 girls working hard to finish in 74th position.

Marshall Fleet has been improving race by race and continued this against stiff opposition with a storming run to finish in 30th place. Teammates Oliver Walker 49th, Nathan Dunn 67th, Alfie Manser 80th and Archie Bennett 105th all had solid runs. The team finished in a creditable 9th place. Harri-Ann Fleet had another consistent race in the junior women’s race coming home in 37th position.

Katie Kay and Aliesha Smith flew the green and gold flag in the senior women’s race, both having strong runs to finish 55th and 111th respectively. Tom McMahon was first back for the senior men with a brilliant performance to finish 168th, with Mike Kennedy and James Hartshorne having a close battle to finish 239th and 241st respectively.
