Wendy’s Wacky Races & Michelle Vaughan Tribute

Last night (15th Sept 2026) at ECH HQ we celebrated 2 green and gold legends, Michelle Vaughan and Wendy Andrews.

Both ladies sadly passed away last year leaving everyone at the club who knew them were deeply saddened.

Both superb athletes and role models for our club in their own disciplines, but also, both very much more than this.

Wendy was a coach and has helped shape the younger talent on display at ECH, while Michelle worked and campaigned to bring in funding to help support the recently upgraded throwing cage inside the track boundaries.

A presentation in the club house in recognition of Michelle's efforts brought as many of our members as we could fit inside to see Glenn Piper deliver a speech to everyone including Michelle's son and granddaughter, culminating in the presentation of a plaque recognising Michelle's contribution.

This was followed out on the track by Wendy’s Wacky Races in honour of Wendy Andrews.

Two races took place, one for seniors and one for juniors bringing everyone together, sprinters, endurance runners, road runners, long standing club members and newer joiners. Each team running 4 laps of the track in the hope of being crowned champs on the night.

Amazing to see so many people get involved and lovely to be part of such a celebration for 2 of the best of us 💚💛
