Michelle Vaughan Tribute
Michelle Vaughan sadly passed away just before Christmas in Willow Wood after a battle with ovarian cancer.
Michelle loved running, loved her clubs (East Cheshire Harriers, Northern Masters AC and Vegan Runners) and loved listening to the Local Runners Podcast. She has competed in many events on the track, road and cross country. She truly loved the marathon and that is where she achieved her fantastic time of 2 hours 58 as a V50. She was justly very proud of that and got a Sub 3 tattoo in commemoration of this. She has also represented England in Masters races over 10km and the marathon. She was very competitive but also very supportive of so many other athletes. She was always willing to offer advice, support and encouragement to others
In 2025 she worked hard on 2 successful funding bids for East Cheshire that have really benefited the club and helped ensure its future.
She has donated her running machine and cross trainer to ECH. She was very keen on re-using and recycling and asked me to make sure all her running shoes and running kit go to a good home. We looked at options including [https://www.jogonagain.com](https://www.jogonagain.com) for trainers.
She was very well informed about athletics and was always reading books and articles about the latest training, nutrition etc. She worked with me on researching records for East Cheshire Hall of Fame. She collected the best ladies road race results and they are now published in our pamphlet/book. There will be a copy at the bar for reference in a few weeks tiime. Message me if you would like to buy a copy. Price approx. £5.00
Michelle was also keen to recognise ECH marathon achievements and she personally donated a trophy to be awarded at the end of each year. It will be for the best ECH age graded marathon score as worked out using [https://runbundle.com/tools/age-grading-calculator](https://runbundle.com/tools/age-grading-calculator) . The Michelle Vaughan award will be a fitting and lasting tribute to her.
Michelle was a very good friend to me and she will be sorely missed by many people. The committee would like to express their appreciation for her achievements and thanks for all the hard work for the club. Finally they would like to send their condolences to all her family and friends.
